Tesco is planning to remove ‘best before’ labels from some of its fresh produce lines in an effort to avoid food being thrown away when it is still perfectly fit for consumption.
The public’s confusion over food labelling means that often fruit and vegetables in particular are being thrown away in a perfectly usable state.
Tesco will remove this advice from about 70 of their pre-packaged items including apples, potatoes, tomatoes, lemons and onions.
